Alright!!! Next week is my year mark. So wow. Of course of course, lots of reflecting (especially with all the added time to reflect because of quarantine;). One year ago I had no idea what was coming for me. The ups, the downs, the middles. So of course, I wanted to send a few little reflections and things I've learned.
Here are some things I never saw CUMMINGS:
lol;)
•Ice cream in bags. Only bags. Very hard to cut (not scoop, but cut)
•The cities here all have the same street names
•Russians can TALK. Despite lots of stereotypes, Russians LOVE to talk. Once they stop, it is very difficult to get them to stop.
•Doing 300 pushups in one day lol
•Becoming famous in Germany (kind of)
•The power of effective daily scripture study
•Getting trapped in countless sketchy Soviet era apartment buildings (and almost having my arm sliced off)
•How many people eat mushy apples here (of course, primarily the baboshke)
•Not having an actual conversation with a single person (besides my companion) face to face in about a month and a half.
•How great the senior couples are
•How many holidays there are here. Like wow. At least one a week.
•Meeting SO MANY new friends. Wowoow
•We got smart phones, and this past week, me and my comp are testing out Facebook along with a pair of elders to see if it will work for our mission. So we will see...
•The love I have for the Russian people
•How many miracles the Lord put in our path if we are trying
•how many taxis I've taken
•The mission being soooo good even with difficult challenges legit every day
This is only a very very short list of some general things I've learned here on the mission. I'm so grateful to have had this experience, and am grateful for the opportunity to continue to serve. I love my mission! The time is short my friends. You have to use it while you still have it. What better way to use it than creating memories that will bless not only your life, but countless others around you.
This link contains some of the videos we have made here in quarantine. Maybe you will be interested. Most are in English, but some are in Russian. Some musical parodies, some movies that helped us win competitions in our mission and have food delivered to us. Some just random videos we made.
Also sooo sorry if I haven't responded to your email yet!! Getting around to it!!!
